The Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) organised a one-day seminar on the working of the Parliament for the students of the Christian Study Centre on 22nd December 2022, at the Institute. The outreach event was designed with the objective to familiarize and acquaint the students of the Christian Study Centre with a basic understanding of the Constitution of Pakistan, Fundamental Rights and Working of the Parliament.
Ms. Samer Awais, Director General, Parliamentary Development Programme & Coordination (PDP & C) Wing, welcomed the participants and gave an overview of the Institute’s mandate in her session. Mr. Christopher Sharaf, Senior Projects Officer, and representative of the Christan Study Centre highlighted the role of the Christian Study Centre and articulated the historic role of Christian community in the creation of Pakistan. This was followed by a session on “The Constitution of Pakistan and Fundamental Rights” by Mr. Muhammad Fahd Amin, Lecturer, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. Mr. Muhammad Anwar, Executive Director, PIPS enlightened the participants about the use of Parliamentary oversight tools and the committee’s work in his session.
The event concluded with the awarding of Certificates to the Participants by the worthy Executive Director, PIPS. Mr. Christopher Sharaf thanked the Institute for hosting the event and expressed his desire that such events may continue in future as well to strengthen harmonious relations in the society.
